Visit to The Gambia - Day Five
Today, Mrs Carr and Miss Reece visited three rural schools, delivering school lunch supplies and classroom resources. Each school in need of much support, due to their isolated location. A joyful welcome awaited the team at all three schools, including drumming, singing and dancing.
Each school had been without food for many weeks. Situated faraway, into the bush, there had been no other alternative for children to eat at lunchtime - meaning a long walk home during their lunch break. The donation of food will make a huge difference in supporting both teaching and learning, alongside the global goal of zero hunger.
