Welcome to our Latest News page - a place for you to see how we are learning and living 'Life in all its Fullness' at St. Peter’s Church of England Junior School.
Wishing all our families a happy, restful week and we look forward to hearing about your half term adventures at the start of June! Take some time to look back and celebrate all your home learning accomplishments so far. You have all achieved so much from baking to bike riding, crafts and challenges - in addition to all your home learning tasks. Have a lovely week!
Join us for our next assembly as we think about St. Peter and our Value of Responsibility. As part of our story, ‘Peter Leaves Jail’, we invite you to reflect on your roles and responsibilities. What lessons can we learn from each of the characters in this story? How do they model our Value of Responsibility?
In our chosen story Peter is released from jail by an angel: ‘A light shined in the room. The angel touched Peter on the side and woke him up. The angel said, “Hurry! Get up!” And the chains fell off Peter’s hands’ (Acts 12:7).
‘Every day is a new Opportunity’ and ‘With Freedom comes Responsibility’. Think about these messages as you draw/decorate an angel and write a prayer. How can you make the most of each day? What roles do you play? How do you model our Value of Responsibility?
A special thank you to all members of our school community. Today is an opportunity to express our thanks to our school staff and parents for all the work led during this challenging time, supporting our children to ‘Learn to Live Life in all its Fullness’. We invite the children to decorate a ‘thank you’ poster, dedicated to all the adults who support their learning – both now and all year round. You can find a poster template here: https://thankateacher.co.uk/thank-a-teacher-day/
This week, we are encouraging our children to get outside and get active! What sport or skill could you engage in this week? Is there a target that you could set yourself? Our children in school will be participating in an Olympic themed week – what could you do at home? You might take inspiration from the following Bible verse, found in Hebrews 12:1: ‘And let us run with determination the race that lies before us’.
Join us for our next assembly as we continue to learn about the life and work of St. Peter. Our story this week, found in Acts 3, reminds us that our ‘Acts of Kindness’ need not be in ‘silver or gold’. Read or watch the story of ‘Peter Heals’ and consider how it links to our Value of Respect. You might like to draw and decorate a coin as you think about Peter's message: 'I don’t have any silver or gold, but I’ll give you what I have'. What can we praise God for today and how can we show respect for even the smallest of things in our lives?
Inspired by the Bible verse found in Matthew 13:32, we challenge you to create your own Bird Feeder.
‘Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches’.
(Matthew 13:32)
Today marks 200 years since Florence Nightingale was born. Regarded as the Mother of Nursing, Florence Nightingale is also known as the ‘Lady with the Lamp’.
In the Bible, Jesus tells us: ‘Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven’ (Matthew 5: 15-16).
We invite you to create a jar candle holder and consider: what good deeds could you do that might ‘shine’ like a light in the darkness for others to see?
Meet our talented bakers! Thank you for sharing your home baking photos with us – we can see you’ve been learning lots of new skills!
This week, we're encouraging our children to engage in outdoor learning activities as we think about ‘what makes a garden thrive’. You might even like to write a poem about nature and submit it for your Blue Peter Badge. We hope you feel inspired by the following Bible verse:
So you will go out with joy.
You will be led out in peace.
The mountains and hills will burst into song before you.
All the trees in the fields will clap their hands.
(Isaiah 55:12)
Join your neighbours in a nationwide ‘stay at home’ street party! You can start the day by decorating your house in red, white and blue - see our newsletter for our bunting challenge and we look forward to seeing your photos.
